It´s been kind of hard celebrating this summer, it´s been cloudy and wet most days and it didn not help when the restrictions were put back on! But we always try to look on the bright things, even if the weather and government (or should I say Covid-19) are always trying to make our lives miserable. Some of the things we celebrate are, weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, and even just celebrating being alive! That is why it is always good to have some bubbly around!
One of the better sparkling wines to come out of California in my opinion is the Decoy Brut Cuvee N.V.. Produced using the Champagne method, using the same grape varieties as used in Chapagne, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Put all that together with a great producer and you can´t help but to get some good sparkling wine!
Decoy Brut Cuvee N.V. has the classic, toasted bread, cracker and yeast on the nose with a hint of pineapple and alkohol. The taste is very dry and acidic of course (it´s a Brut), going into graham cracker, yeast, lemon, lime and a slight pineapple flavour. The bubbles themselve are the size of pinheads and last a long time in the glass, which always means a good character sparkling. The price is decent at 4.781 kr. and it´s a great wine to use for large or small celebrations.
