Exceptional wine: Flor de Taverners

It´s always fun to see a good spanish wine that does not come from Rioja, wines that show us that Spain as a whole is a great wine making country. Flor de Taverners comes from the Valencia area and is a blend of Monastrell and Tempranillo, the „cold maceration“ technique is used on the grapes which is fairly unusual at the moment.

This method is used to bring more of the fruity character out of the wine, giving it a fruity, heavy but still keeping the freshness to it, in my opinion. I the case of  Flor de Taverners it turns out quite well.

Flor de Taverners 2019, is dark red and very young to look at, which is not a suprise considering it´s a 2019 vintage. The nose is open and fruity with dark cherries, plums, coffee beans and the palate is same but also has a spicy tone. The aftertaste is long and fresh. A great wine with white meat like Turkey or chicken. The price is fair at 4.500 kr.
