After a long, cold and wet winter, it´s fun to think about the sunny and warm areas of the world. For the few of us who did not go to Tenerife, we are just going to have to make do drinking good spanish wine instead.

The favourite spanish wine area for Icelandics is without a doubt Rioja, and for good reason. Rioja makes good quality wines at good prices (by Icelandic standards). One wine that has been showing up on lots of peoples radar lately is Marqués de Murrieta, a well done wine that brings a smile to your face on a otherwise gloomy winters day.
Marqués de Murrieta, Reserva 2016 from Rioja Spain has a very open aroma with lots of vanilla, epresso coffee and a little bit of raisins to it. The palate is strong and rich with vanilla, ceder, coconut, dark chocolate, paprika, raisins and black cherries to it. The aftertaste is long and has a lot of alcohol in it. Do not bother keeping this wine, even though is can develop more with time, it´s so good now that it does not need to develop more. A good steak wine and I am looking forward to drinking it with grill food this summer. The price is more than fair at 3.990 kr..
